election yesterday in Maine lias astonished
both parties. The immense Republican
majority of last year, which was2S.()00. has

it will take some days to deckle certainly

Ivnox, Lincoln, Washington and Arostoot
have certainly been gained by the Demo

New Orleans. Sept. 11.—The number of
deaths of yellow fever for the twenty-four
hours ending at six o'clock this morning,
in this city, was reported to sixty-
seven.
In the Common Council last night, the
eleetiou of Assistant Recorders resulted in
the choice of three negroes and one white
man. Several Other vacancies in munici
pal oflleea were tilled hy the appointment
of colored men. ,

the Rev. J. P. Parham. President of the
Howard Association. Corpus Chriati, died
