Tlic Empress Eugenie has faded very
much the past year.

Dr. Parer, who rccenty fell dead in an
apoplectic lit. in Paris, was one of the most
eminent physicians in France. Every mo

The mother and sister of the wealthy Dr.
Moffat, of vegetable pill notoriety, are re
ported to be iiving in great destitution in
A'cw York. The children of the doctor
never knew until recently anything about
their relatives.
One of Robespierre's executioners died
recently in Paris. He wa3 an old man of
eighty^four, and over seventy years ago
tookjwrt in the executions of Robespierre
and flt. Just. He has since presided over
many transactions of a similar character,
though the fact that he was still living
vras comparatively unknown until he

Conscience Money Claimed.—Several
- weeks ago, Secretary McCulloch received,
: from an anonymous source, a package,
-post-marked Urbana, Ohio, containing
mincteen thousand dollars. The money
•as placed to the credit of the conscience
flaml. Recently a letter was received from
a man in Wisconsin, claiming that he sent
the money to be converted into other se
curities. such as the Secretary might think
proper to send, and gave, as his reason for
forwarding no communication or signa
ture. that lie was very sick at the time, and
not able to write. The officers ol the
Treasury are of opinion that the letter is
from some party who saw the publication
that nineteen thousand dollars had been
