The Long Talked of Demonstration— Washington, Nov. 13.—The Johnson De partment demonstration to-night was an enthusiastic affair. There were about 5,000 demonstrators on hand, with good music, and a large display of torches and transpa rencies. The crush and jam in the vicini ty of thc.White House was terrific. 'The President appeared at about 8 o'clock behind a pair of spectacles, and mounted the same step, on the north front, from which he delivered his famous 22nd of February speech. Close behind him was Colonel O'Byme, a Federal office-holder of this district, who had been appointed spokesman of the multitude. The Colonel addressed four pages of foolscap to his Ex cellency, and his Excellency replied in four more pages, which he read with occasional emphasis, and an occasional stumble, winding up with, “Good night, God bless you," which were the only extemporane ous remarks of the evening. The only distinguished persons in the audience were the Attorney General and the Secretary of the Treasury, who were visible at one of the windows. Mr. Rtan- berry was called for at the conclusion of the President's speech, hut he did not re spond.—Special Tel. (Jin. Corn. RULE TO PERFECT 8ERVICE.
