Even' one w!m> lias used liotli kinds of light, will agree that nfie gootl keroslne lamp will afford a grower quantity and a better quality of light than two ordinary sperm candles. And yet the burning ot one candle is more expensive than the lamp. Tliis fact has led to the invention of a lamp known as the "St. German!.” which is so constructed as to render explosion im possible. and which at the same, affords a better and more economical light than the o)i| st\ le lamp. It is peculiarly adapted to tin- convenience of the student or business man. who is in the habit of reading or wri ting by artificial light; aud it is rapidly coming into general use in all parts of the country'. , W'c observe that several, professional gentlemen and business men in this city are using the St. Gcrmani ? and after a fair tia*t of its merits, pronounce it superior to anything of the kiud they have ever used. An intelligible description of this won derful lamp would occupy a full column in the Opinion; and we doubt even then whether the reader would beable to under- stand it without an accompanying cut. To be understood and appreciated, it must be seen. This can lie done by visiting the Queensware establishment of Messrs. Mc- llrlde & Co., of this city, where it is on ex- hihition.and where itcan also lie purchased. • ol. ucBride is prepared to sell them as cheap as they can lie purchased of the manufacturer at the North; aud those in terested sufficiently to pay him a visit, will find him a most attentive and agreeable gentleman. We would, therefore, advise all who ile.-irc to secure an economical, safe. and good light, to repair at once to the store ol Messrs. Me Bride & Co., on White- ball street. BAUGH’S | THKOUCH RATES Raw Bone Super-Phosphate. ON COTTON 10 NEW YORK The following testimon}- in reference to the above fertilizer, by one well known in this community and State, will be read with interest: TESTIMONY OFCHAS. W. THOMAS, Sector St. Philip's Church, Atlhnta, G*., A. K. Skago, Esq. : Sir—In answer to your question respecting Baugh’s Raw Bone Super-Phosphate I send you the fol lowing facts: I prepared in my garden, at West End, three squares for Irish potatoes; on the first I put nothing; on the second, Guano at the rate of two hundred and fifty pounds per acre; on the third, your Bone Dust at the rate of three hundred pounds per acre. As you are not interested In the quality, I give no particulars of soil or mode of cul ture, further than to say tiiat in these re spects, and in time of planting the squares were equal. The square manured with j Guano yielded forty per cent, over the un manured square; and that manured with Baugh’s Raw Bone Super-Phosphate seventy-five per cent- over the unmanured square. It may be that the Guano was not a pure article. I bought it, however, for Peruvian, and from a reliable house, and at the same rate per pound as the Bone Dust. CHAS. W.
