It will l>e remembered that nearly every report
er who has visited the asylum ami ilill has de
scribed an extraordinary picture which the un
fortunate inau waa painting upon the wail cf his
ruom-r-a picture repreaentlug the courtroom and
the vailous figures ttc:ein—himself, wife, judge,
etc. This picture was but m rely ouiUued when

intentions than mere amusement when he began

and materials necessary for hit work, for

Hill's method of escape cau only be guessed at
from the tracks he kfb It is supposed to be aa

With the means of issuing f.om hi* room at hh
disposal, he doubtless clipped down the hall on*
night and obtained an impression «,f the corridor
door lock, from which a friend likcsU* obtained

the asylum at hi* pleasure, fj* the path
f rout door was unobstructed.
On the eveniag of the aecubd, he replied to u

One to Hr. Powell, stated that during all the time

that he would never again enter the asylum alive.
