December 7.—(Special.— ‘ Mrs. Perry, white woman 92 years old, was burned to death at her home near Hix, ten miles below this place in Mad ison county . Big Robberies by Negro Baud. Americus, Ga.. December 7.—(Special.) In the capture of a gang of negroes by the police this afternoon the most daring car robberies of recent years are di vulged In the confessions made by Fred erick Wilson and Marshall Hoskins. Whole wagon loads of coffee ami meat, cases of shoes, bales of dry goods and other merchandise were stolen recently, the thieves making free confessions and disclosing tho place where the goods were sold. Car loads of merchandise were thus stolen In Americus ami Smithville an 1 sold through eonfe'erates here. The negroes captured are all members of prominent secret societies. Engineer Hurt in Wreck. Rome, Ga., December 8 —(Special.)— ; Engineer William Rose, who runs on i frain No. 30 Central Railway, ran into i another freight train near Trioa this j morning causing a bad wreck and black- i ing the trafic for several hours. No one > was hurt except Mr. Rose who sustained [ a braken leg and some serious Internal ’ Injuries. Skull Split by Negro Hand. Bainbridge, Ga., December B.—(Special.) Frank Mock, a prominent farmer living 10 miles west of tills city was knocked in the head this morning by a negro farm hand. Mr Mock was stooping over when the negro lipped up behind him ami struck llm with an a.x, fracturing his skull. Dr. Chestnutt was called in and he says that Mr. Mock has small chance to recover.
