On ThunxUy night, the 13lh inot., Bro W. M. Harbin. Organizer, acoornpanic ' by I’rof. Wallace, visited Hiram, a smn'l new town on the E. T. Va. & Ga. rail way, thirty miles Northwest of Atlanta, and organized “ Farmers’ ” Auembly. The new- assembly starts with thirty members. all of whom are thrifty, well to-do farmers, all industrious, soli< mon and highly resj»ected citizens. They are all enthusiast c, the community is a j<ros jierous one, and thoroughly imbued with the progressive spirit which placed and sustains Atlanta in the front rank of Southern cities. , We contemplate with pleasure and confidence the future of Farmers' As sembly, because we think the choice ma terial composing it gives promise of rapid growth an 1 increasing influence. Os Some Interest. In 1815 the aggregated value of prop erty in Georgia w as $57,746,771.16. In 1820 a fire in Savannah destroyed 46.3 buildings, valued at $4,000,(XX). In 1885, February Bth, the weather was the coldest ever known in Georgia. In 1837, May 29th, a violent hailstorm was experienced ; the hail lay on the ground twelve days. V. & Gu. railway, Mr. C. F. Thomas—a bona fide Master Workman—has just put upon the road a passenger locomotive, which is a splendid specimen of engine maehan isin.
