Mrs. Nation told oP speaking Th a
dance hall In Peoria, III., nfter she had
given a prohibition lecture, and about
(he trouble that was raised about It.
She walked Into the place at the height
of the festivities, and. standing upon
V chair, preached the gospel nnd told
about the evil of liquor. Since that
time the proprietor hits quit the busi
ness ami Is now* devoting his life to
doing good.
Many passages of Scripture are
quoted by Mrs. Nation to show that har
mission Is a fulfillment of prophecies
made In the Bible. She points nut that
her Initials spell "can" nnd she says
she can do things and will do them. She
also points out that she will yet carry
n nation for the causo of Christ.
An Annihilationist.
"I nm no temperance woman. Neither
am I a local optlonlst." she said. "I

cannot bo made, sold, bartered, or

"And I am /carrying this gyspel

preached there. Why should I not go
to dives and brothels and preach Ills

mingle with the lowly and presch His
gospel.”
When asked nbout her latest expe
rience a short lime ago at the White
House when she endeavoreil to see
President Roosevelt, Mrs. Nation smiled
and talked Interestingly of her visit
"See him?" she asked, "(if course I
didn't see him. First of all, let toe say
I'm a nil-Roosevelt. I’m agulnst hint
No. they didn't let me see him. but
they didn’t throw me out and didn’t

before. Hilt I had my say and told
them w hat 1 thought of him before I
left. I told them that any bum, thief,
rogue, crook or drunkard or cignretto
fiend In tho country could see the pres
blent, but not (’arris Nation, and I
told them what to ask hint. Finally
one of the men coming out of the
president’s office asked one of the em
ployees to please Induce me f*» leave
No, they didn't havo me arrested

Her Last Smaeh.
It has been Just aboul a year stale
Mrs. Nation smashed her last saloon

sign flow n from over the door, and they
didn't. So when 1 went t«» Houston
noon tha next day. The sign wax taken
down and they didn’t have me arrested
that time nor put mt In Jail.”
Mrs. Nation usea stones and rocks
In smashing saloons for the reason
that the acriptures tell about the stones
crying out and she says they are the
means of carrying out her work.
No 8moking Hera.
I don't think I will smash any
saloon In Atlanta. But I am going to
some them. I understand that some'
of the saloons are selling this week
•Carrie Nation cocktails.’ They've got to
stop that. I am going to visit some and
find out.
