LOCKED IN TOWER;
MURDERIS CHARGE
After being a fugitive from Justice
for more than a year, during which
time he has been hunted by both city
any atate officers, Walter Graham, 24
years of age. formerly a switchman for
the Georgia railroad, waa locked In a
cell In lhe Thwer Thurada/ morning,
charged with the murder of Georgs
tOflMtdaon. a machinist for the aama
railroad. Richardson having been aluln
about 11:S0 o'clock on the night of De
cember 22, 1905.
, Graham was arrested Wednesday at
a raw mill near McRae. tla., and wax
brought to Atlanta by Hherlff James
Dowdy, of Telfair county. *Gtaham was
working In lhe saw mill and hla arrest
tvna occasioned by two of hla fallow-
workers, who auspleloned lie wus the
man wanted In this city, and who con
fided their sustdolona to the officers.
The prisoner, when seen In lhe Tow.
er by a Georgian reporter, declined lo
either affirm or deny that he la guilty
of the murder.
Sheriff Dowdy, however. Informed
the haul author!,lea that GraJmm had
made a full confesalon lo him, admit
ting that he killed Richardson, but
saying lie <11.1 an In self-defense. He
said lie feared Richardson Intended to
kill him.
