THE DIFFERENCE.
I'hartlsr Shorthand contains 10 sim
ple rules and th* alphabet. Thai'* all.
By devoting only a part of each day
lo the study, putting the major part of
the lime on typewriting and Ihe prac
tical English branches, n student of
average Intelligence can take any ordi
nary business letter at the end uf Ihe
first month.
Graham Shorthand contain* hundred*
of difficult rules and exceptions, thou
sands of word signs and arbitrary con.
tractions, which must be mastered be
fore the student Is prepared to lake
general dictation* and even then Ihe
thousands of logogram* and contrac
tions must bs practiced for months be- I
fore any real speed can be developed. I
nloglcal order nearly all. If not quite all.
Ihe material facts. The greater part of
them ore matters of record and ate
disclosed by the various pleading now-
on file In the various courts In whlen
■hr suits were had and are pending.
The rest t either know of my own
knowledge or can establish by the
sworn testimony of those who do know-.
In view of the prominence given tho
whole matter already by Ihe newspa
pers, I think the public should be ap
prised of all the farts, and 1 am quite
sure that I have here stated some not
yet given by any newspaper. And
when all are known, 1 am willing for
each unbiased man to be his own judge
of things. 1 will say now and always
that hail I been here on January 12, I
would have aided In Ihe habeas corpus
suit, not out of any contempt for any
court whatever, not with any such
thought, but purely and almply out cf
tegard and respect for the rights and
liberty of man and my own oath and
duties In such matters, and what I
trust la a high regard and respect for
all law. especially those fundamental
principles of law. those bases of all our
freedom and property rights, preserved
to us all by the state and Federal
constitutions. They were purchased at
the price of warm, rod blood. In their
beginning, snd long, bird years ta

Will never be easily taken from th*

Unless all history Is a II*. I havg
probably a thousand ani-eators between
here and ibe Ark who spent probably n
hundred times ten days In prison, not
because a writ of habeas corpus was
sued out by Somebody during their ab
sence. but because In.their day Ui* writ

Beside*. Nipper got out for
and has stayed out.
