Member of Police Board
Gives Out Some
Straight Talk.
Henry Jennings will be re-elected
chief of police.
He will be re-elected by the unani
mous vote of the board of police corn-
efforts of his opponents to find
man on w hom a majority of the board
could unite teems to have failc/d utter

of the politically “wise and unpreju
diced" that Jennings will land the plum
by easy picking.
There have been any number of "pos
sibilities" mentioned for the place, but
none. It seems, has ever passed over
the threshold Into a "probability." Moit
of the men named have never sought
the place, and say they wouldn't take

As far as Is known, not a single mem

as against Jennings, or for anybody

courts.*from the police and other de

Despite which, a member of the

"I can honestly and truly say that I
have never heard a single member of
the board say he would vote agalnat
Jenntng*. nor have 1 heard a single
member express a preference over Jen
nings for any mad. whether mentioned
or not."
There Is a possibility, of course, that
man will be chosen* other than the
present chief.
But —
Jf a vote were taken at the present
time. It Is safe to say that Jennings
would be re-elected without opposition
—probably without discussion.
This "dope" is Imbedded In a solid
foundation of fact.
THE EXAMINA TION
t
Of the NORTHWESTERN MUTUAL LIFE by the
Wisconsin legislative committee was the most searching
and microscopic investigation to which a Life Insurance
Company was ever subjected. After eleven months of
relentless and determined scrutiny, conducted by mathe
maticians, expert accountants and legal counsel, the com
mittee were unable to find a single dishonest transaction
by any officer or employee of the company, although the
examination covered practically its entire history.
This type of management shows itself in results to
individual policyholders—giving them thte largest divi
dends and the lowest metcdifTT" —I
