denly left Macon for parte unknown

. Friends here have communicated with
judge Means! who baa been seriously

accute rheumatism, and he will face his
accuser* In Macon, they state, the early
part of this week.
There were several statements In the
press notices that are not correct.
First. Judpe Means still has property

Third, It Is claimed he did not obtain

Fain, the t-yeer-old son of Mr. and
Mr*. John V. Fain, who died Saturday
afternoon at the family residence, 13
Jones avenue, after an attack of menin
gitis. were conducted Monday after
noon at 2:30 o'clock.
The little boy was taken suddenly 111
Saturday morning about 10 o'clock,
complaining that ha bad a pain la lb*
back of his head. A physician tvas
called, but the boy sank Into uncon
sciousness and In this state he re
mained until death, live hours later.

night, wben the convention will end
with a banquet at the Kimball House.
The organisation Is the largest and

and the convention this year Is expect

tory of the exchange. About 350 mem
bers will be present, and they will come
from every section of the South.
The local members of the organisa
tion have arranged an elaborate pro
gram of social entertainment for the
visitors and this Includes a reception In
the Kimball parlors, automobile ride,
barbecue and oyster roast, theator and
card parties and banquet.
Addresses will be made at the ban
quet by Governor Terrell. Governor-

ly. waa shot and Instantly killed Satur
day night about T o'clock by Mrs. Bailie
Kreeney.
The killing. It Is said, grew out ot an
alleged dispute about past due rent,
Mr. Harrell owning the house In which
Mrs. Kreeney lived. He had gone there
for the purpose of collecting the rent
due. and upon being refused' payment
he told Mr*. Kreeney, It la claimed, that
he would have her put out.
She then. It Is eeld. drew her pistol
and ahot him twice, one ball going
through his heart end the other enter
ing his left eye.
Mr*. Kreeney was Immediately ar
retted.
Mr. Harrell leave* a wife and several
children.

thirteenth big snowstorm came yester-
day. Throughout the forenoon there
were Intermittent Annies, and at noon
the storm ptaper came, and It came
fast and Onions while a atlff wind
kicked up formidable drifts until pleas*
ant reminders of the great billiard of

two days distant faded.
Toward night, however, the wind
died away, and early In tb* evening tha
snow fall censed. In eight hours nearly

snowfall of the winter up to 43 Inches.

Pritchard, a well-known farmer, after
walking Into tha store of O. R. Lewie
her* at about d o'clock Saturday even
Ing. shot both Mr. Lewis and his son
Homer Lewis, 30 years of age, with a
pistol. The Ant shot Arad struck the
son In the head, and when the father
sought to Interfere he was alto A red
upon, the bullet striking him In th*
head.
Neither of the shots were apparently
well aimed, ns they glanced. Thl* fact
probably saved the Uvea of the two
men
Soon after the shooting Pritchard
was taken In custody. He resides
about three miles from Fayetteville,
where lie ha* a large plantation. He I*

le said to have resented the attentions
paid bis daughter, and the shooting fol.

liner La Savoie, from Havre March 3,
carrying more than 1,080 passengers,
arrived here Sunday after perhaps the
most severe experience of the trans-
Atlantic liners that have recently re
ported'rough weather at sea.

Mills divorce proceedings Saturday by
Commodore Mills, for the purpose of
Impeaching the character of young Gil-
land Stlkeleather, named as co-re
spondent and ngalnst whom Commo
dore Mills has brought a suit for 3100,-
ono damages for the alleged alienating
of his wife's affections. It waa en
deavored to bring out that young Stlke
leather had figured In many escapades
around town of a disorderly nature fa
miliar to the police end that he had
been arrested several times. The rec
ord of the pollee court was nleo put
evldehce. Attorney Harold Em
mons, who conducted the etramlnailnn
In behalf of Commodore Mills, stated
that the evidence adduced was highly
