at the Jamestown Exposition will he
the model of Fort Hawkins, made of
wood of the original fort, and
owned by the Macon Public Library.
The suggestion comes from a promi
nent member of the Historical Society
of Ihla city that the valuable relic lo
be taken lo Jameatown and made the
center of the Macon exhibit.

years ago the legislature gave lo the
Confederate veterans of the state the
south end of the old capttol grounds
for a memorial park. Tha park hus
been fixed up nicely and glvaa the city

memorial hall In the park, which la lo

C.. on a charge of murder, has been
released from custody, officers from
Newport. Tenn. who arrived In this
city to Identify the man and tuke him
back to Tennessee, declaring he was
not the man wanted at that place.
