which the proportions are; One cup
sugar, one-fourth cup water, one-fourth

Apart from, the Ices, the desideratum
of the house-keeper was reached In the
splendid planked shad which wee pre
pared before the class, and passed
round, for Inspection. The consevus .if
opinion was that to learn to prepare a
planksd • shad was alone worth the
price of admission to all six lectures.
The menu to be demonstrated Satur
day morning, at the final lecture,
la particularly Interesting and val
uable. and It la hoped that those who
have not yet attended the school or
contributed to the success of the enter
prise. which Is for the benefit of the
Sheltering Arms Society, will do so on
that day.

rare privilege to hear. There was a
group of charming Brahma songs, snd
the exquisite little "Bonne Humeur" of
Chamlnade's, a song which Mrs. Bhcri- (
dan has sung frequently with the dis
tinguished composer. The accompani
ments were played by Mr. Joseph Mac-
lean. and were In themselves a beauti
