and Mortimer L. Schlff. The attorney
general was asked to advise what his
conclusions were In the matter and
what action. If any, Is contemplated
by the legal department of the state.
Harrlman Unloaded.
Mr. Stead Is doubtful whether It Is
the province of the stnto of Illinois
to enforce the remedy. The revocation
of the company's charter, which appar
ently would be the natural procedure
on the part of the atate, would bring
most of the suffering upon Innocent
stockholders, Harrlman and hie friends
having already unloaded a part of their
holdings.
Mr. Stead Inclines to the belief that
the remedy lies with the company Itself.
This conclusion, however. Is not final

of Illinois.
Profit of Million!.
According to Mr. Stead, Harrlman
and ills associates made a total profit of
884,((S,(00 out of their operations In'
voicing the Alton properties. As a re
suit of this enormous profit to them,
selves, the railroad companies of the
Alton system are thrown Into helpless
bankruptcy. He says:

or more than 70 per cent of the entire
Indebtedness, created by this syndlcata
upon the properties of these several
companies was not created In further

HEALTH OF WOMEN
In this nineteenth century to keep
up with the march of progress every
sun
power of woman is strained to its
utmost, and the tax upon her physi
cal system is far greater than ever.
In the good old-fashioned days of
our grandmothers few drugs were
[In
used In medicines. They relied upon
roots and herbs to cure weaknesses
and disease, and their knowledge of
roots and herbs was far greater
than that of women today.
It was in this study of roots and
herbs that Lydia E. Pinkhatn, of
Lynn, Mass., discovered and gavo
to the women of the world a remedy
more potent and efficacious than
any combination of drugs.
MRS. C.E.FINK
Lydia E. Pinkham’s Vegetable Compound
is an honest, tried and true remedy of unquestionable therapeutic value.
Thla medicine made from native roots and herbs contains no narcotics
or other harmful drugs and today holds the record for the largest number
of actual cures of female diseases of any medicine the world has ever
known, and thousands of voluntary testimonials are on file in the
laboratory at Lynn, Mass., which testify to its wonderful value.
Fink, of Carnegie, Pa., writes:—1
Mrs. C. E. Fink, of Carnegie, Pa., wr
-Dear Mrs. Pinkham:— “I
wish every suffering woman would tmko Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable
sd t
Compound and write to you for Bdvice. It has done me a world of good
and what it has accomplished for me I know it will do for others.”
When women are troubled with Irregularities, Displacements, Ulcer
ation. Inflammation, Backache, Nervous Prostration, they should re
member there ts one tried and true remedy, Lydia E. Pinkham’s Vege
table Compound.
Mrs. Pinkham’s Standing Invitation to Women
Women suffering from any form of female weakness are invited to
write Mrs. Pinkham, at Lynn, Moss. Out of her vast volume of ex
perience she probably has the very knowledge that will help your case.
