HIGH KNIGHTS TEMPLAR WILL LA V CORNERSTONE OF NE W MA SONIC TEMPLE Two great event* wtl be marked In Masonic circle* In Atlanta next month —the annual conclave of the Grand Commandery of the Knights Templar and the laying of the cornerstone of the great new Masonic Temple on May 8. The occasion Will be marked by the presence of not only the most promi nent Knights Templar in Georgia, but the leading men of the order in the United Bute*. George M. Moulton, of Chicago, grand commander of the Knights Templar in the United States; Dr. Henry L*. Rugg, deputy grand com mander, of Providence, R. I., and others will be here. The annual conclave of the Geor- ■DgMi The Shine That Won’t Explode gla Commandery will open Its annual session on the morning of May S at 16 o'clock, with the annual parade, which Is always a brilliant affair. The ■ sluns of the conclave will continue two days, both crowded with business and social events for the visitors. A large number of ladles are espected to ac company the Knights, and many spe cial social affairs' are being arranged for them. Laying of Cornerstone. On that afternoon at I o'clock the Veremony of the cornerstone laying of the magnificent new Masonic Temple at Peachtree and Cain streets will take place. The principal address will be de livered by Rev. Henry I., Rugg, D.D., of Providence. R. I., deputy grand com mander of the Knights Templar of the United States. Dr. Rugg Is one of the most eloquent and scholarly men Id the Episcopal ministry. On the evening of May t at 8 o’clock the beautiful religious services of the grand commandery will be held In the First Baptist church. The liturgy will be read, and the annual sermon will be delivered by Rev. S. R. Belle, pas tor of Bt. Mark Methodist church. Following the services at the church a reception will bo tendered the grand commander and his stuff. The place for holding thla function hoa not yet been decided on. On Tuesday the conclave will wind up with a barbecue at Cold Springs 'Cue Club. The officials will he welcomed by May or Julius A. Horne, of Mllledgevllle; President M. M. Parks, of the Georgia Normal and Industrial College, and County School Commissioner R. N. Lamar. Monday evening the Governor’s Horse Guard will be Inspected, which 1 will complete the Inspection here until the latter part of April, when regi mental headquarters and the govern or's staff will be Inspected. The showing made by the Fifth this year was most flattering. Captain Os car Palmour's company. A, made a record of 100 per cent on attendance. Other companies made fine showings On Tuesday the Marietta company will be Inspected, and thla will end the service of Captain W. T. Morgan, who will be relieved by Lieutenant Case, of the Twelfth cavalry. Captain Mor gan's troop will leave shortly for Jamestown. ISAAC MORELAND DIES, AGED SEVENTY-FOUR YEARS. Special to The Georgian.' Eatonton, Go.. April 8.—Isaac T. Moreland died Friday at his home, near Willard, this county. In his 74th year. The deceased spent all his life in this his native county on the farm, beloved and honored by all who knew him. an.l his death will be seriously felt. He leaves a wife and two children, William Moreland and Mrs. Lizzie Howard. Tho burial took place from Avalona church, of which he was a member. PANAMA MAY NOT JOIN COMING PEACE CONGRESS. Washington. Eatonton, Go., April 8.—The recent election held to decide whether or not 210,000 additional bonda should be Is sued to complete the system of sewer age for this town, now only three-fifths finished, resulted In favor of the bonds.
