ATLANTA ACTRESS COLDS CURED
IDF!
IN METROPOLIS
New York, April 24!—It Is a well
known fact that there Is no class of
people as universally charitable and
philanthropic ae actors. In times of
distress, whether general or Individual,
the most prominent actors are always
ready.to lend a helping hand.
When the Holdiers' Home In Atlanta
wae burned, sweet Adelaide Thurston,
who was appearing nt the Grand, turned
over the box office receipts of her first
performance to the committee which
ia<l In charge the rebuilding of the
home. Another Instance la the recent
benefit performance given at the Acad
eipy of Music In New York for Father
Duse, at which a large sum of money
was netted.
Actors all over the country respond
ed to the call of distress In the case of
the Ban Francisco disaster. It so happens
now that these spme actors want the
assistance of the general public In rals.
Ing funds for the Actors' Fund of
America. This fund has a home—on
the plan of a hotel—In Etaten Island
and a fair Is to be held from May 6
to 11. in the Aletropolltan Opera House
to raise money for the support of this
home, where the old age of some of the
greatest actors of tbe day Is to be
spent. Contributions and articles of
valua are being sent In from every city
In the union, from the profession and
outside of It.
Many prominent New York women
are Interested In the success of the
fair, Mrs. Btuyvesant Fish being In
charge of the flower booth. Mrs. Fish
has said that nothing rould give her
more pleasure than helping ii
cause. Bhe Is fond of the prof
and will use all of her energies to make
this occasion a success.
“I have laughed and cried with these
people," said Mrs. Kish, “and it Is no
more than Just that 1 should, jiow make
returns."
Miss Gladys Hanson Bnook, of "The
Spoilers," Miss Louise Galloway,
'Tho Mills of the Gods," now playing
at tlis Manhattan, and Miss Bijou Fer
nandes—all *promlnent Broadway ac
tresses, will be at the booth where
lamps, electroliers, candelabra and
other articles are to be sold.
It Is expected .that Atlanta will re
spond In her usual generous spirit to
the plea of the Actors' Fund.
Inasmuch as she Is represented at
the fair by a most brilliant and accom
plished Atlantan, It seems Incumbent
upon Atlantans to see that their city
does her share toward contributing
funds hnd articles.
Anyone wishing to send contribu
tions of any kind sbould'address them
to Mrs. A. M. Paimer, chairman of the
Woman's Department, of Actors' Fund
Fair, Ruom 125 Knickerbocker Theater
Building. 114 West Thirty-ninth street,
New York.
The trustees of the Fund are Dartlel

Pastor, K. B. Harris, Heinrich Conrled.
