SLIGHTLY LOWER
New York, May 9.—The cotton market
opened active and feverish 2 points lower
to 8 points higher. The ndranee was on
near positions, which were Influenced by
better cablet. The new crop options were
weaker, and under a very heavy selling
movement led by a prominent commission
house, evidently on more favorable crop
news, fell to a net loss of 606 pointa after
the call. Market barely steady.
Liverpool cablet, while not quite up to
the expectations, displayed considerable
strength In the early trading, but moet of
the advance was lost nt the close, which
was weak 1404H pointa lower, os compared
with Wednesday's finals.
