George Fawcett has bestowed the ut most care and attention upon the selec tion of the company which he will pre sent in Atlanta for in UMMai^t m* gagement, beginning with “The Hen rietta" Monday evening. May 27, at the Grand opera house. With the end in view of making this one of the strong est and best companies playing outside of New York, Mr. Fawcett has called In from “the road" many of his best- knowfi contemporaries. There are several men In the com pany who are well fitted to play the leading masculine roles. Regan Hugh- ston is a handsome young actor, and qufte a favorite In the cities In which he has played. He has been with Olga Nethersole, Julia Marlowe, E. IX. So- thorn, and previous to joining the Faw cett Company played a prominent part In David Relasco's all-star cast of “The Heart of Maryland." Brandon Hurst Is an eminent English actor, but has played in this country for some years. It may be mentioned that he originat ed the character of Lord Fancourt Bab- berley In “Charley's Aunt," and in this role gave an exceedingly artistic piece of work, lie was for some time leading man for Mrs. Flake, and has also been seen with the late Roland Reed, Amelia Bingham, and more recently In “The Squaw Man" Company and with Law- rence D’Orsay In “The Embassy Ball." Both he und Mr. Hughston will be seen to excellent advantage during the first two weeks In "The Henrietta" und •'Friends." The leading woman of the company Is Miss Rose Curry, a brilliant Cali fornia actress, who will be best remem bered in the star part of “Way Down East." Miss Ethel Conroy, who will also play prominent parts, comes of a well-known theatrical family, and be sides being one of the most beautiful women on the stage, she has a rare de gree of dramatic talent. Her last en gagement was playing a prominent part in “The Muslc,Master." of which David Warfield Is the star, and which played In New York for three seasons to pack ed houses. Miss Phyllis and Miss Grace Sherwood are charming pc tresses whom Mr. Fawcett believes are sure to wlr their way Into the hearts of the the atergoers of this city. Stuart Beebe and Ilurr Caruth hav» both had long experience on the stagi under the best management. Then are four of the old favorites of thf former Fawcett dbmpany, Allen Faw cett, Frank Craven. Now that Ponce DeLeon Park hu. opened for the summer season th* crowds of spectators and skaters a* the skating rink In the St. Nicholas auditorium will be bigger and bettet than ever. In anticipation of the largt crowds expected at the three dall> skating sessions, the management ha? perfected a plan whereby music Is t» be furnished at each. The largest orchestrion ever brought South has arrived In Atlanta fron Paris, where It was made at a cost ol 37,500. francs. This orchestrion has ninety-eight stops and Is capable of re producing the tones and notes of an orchestra of slxty-two pieces. It Is being Installed In the western end of the skating rink nnd It will be heard In the furthermost recessess of the • uatero end. With music each session, much will be added to the pleasure of the skaters. Amuse U Theater. Manager Robins has prepared an at tractive bill for the Amuse II Theater, rn the Vladust. for Monday and Tues day. The program Is to be composed of the following numbers: “Johnny's Hoop" "Eggs" and the “Clown and the Htatue.” If you have ever seen a small boy with a hoop you can appreciate the accidents and mishaps which be fell Johnny and his hoop. “Eggs' Is the Ktory of a man who advertised nnd bis ad was answered. Ho wanted 10,- «00 eggs nnd It would seem that he got 100 times that many. The conclud ing number will be a very funny farci cal film. For Monday and Tuesday the moving picture program at the Twin Theater «>n Whitehall street Is announced as loliows: "Rescued by a Lifeboat," “Grandpa’s Revenge" and “Murphy's Wake." Miss Sherwood is a member of the George Fawcett Stock Company, which will begin its engagement at the Grand on Monday, May 27. DEWITT C. "Murphy's Wake" is one of the most ludicrous Irish stories ever told without words. Pat feigns ► uldde and his wife thinks he is dead. During tne wake the watchers get drunk and Pat steals the undertaker’s bottle and enjoys the fun, too. At the grave he gets out of the coffin nnd frightens the grave diggers who think he Is a ghost. He returns home and breaks up his wake. Pastime Theater. Manager Holland, of the I'astlme theater, announces a complete change of vaudeville at the Pastime play house next week, and the Indications are that It will be an im provement over the excellent program which was presented there during the week Just closed. The ladles and children of Atlanta are regular patrons at the matinee perform ances of this little theater. Cooled by elec tric fans and ventilators. It Is an Ideal spot to spend a summer afternoon.
