IN FAR AWAY TEXAS
A telegram Thursday announced the
death In El Paso, Texas, of P. J. Mc
Govern, chairman of the Southern
classification committee, who had of
fices In the Prudential building and
resided at 18 Forrest avenue, Atlanta.
Mr. McGovern went to El Paso eev-
era! montha ago In the hope of recov
ering hla health. Hln widow and six
small children survive him. They were
with him when death cams. Mr. Mc
Govern was born In Cincinnati In
1888, and waa long prominent In rail
road circles.
He had occupied the position of as-
alatant general frelrlit agent of the
Loulevllle and Nanhville, general
freight agent of the Georgia Pacific,
aaaietant commissioner of the Southern
railway and Steamship Company, and
from 1888 to the time of death had
been chairman of the Southern class]
flcatlon committee.
No announcement hat been made
relative to the funeral.

Day waa observed hero today by the
members of the local past of the Grand
Army of the Republic. The exercises
were held at tho Hillside cemetery,
where a number of Union soldiers are
burled. Among the graves decorated
were General Daniel Tyler and Cap
tain Edmuns Tyler; nl.-n th» grave* of
Spanlsh-Amerlcan soldiers were deco,
rated and those of the Confederate
dead.
The address was delivered by Rev.
W. B. Bmead and taps were blown by
members of the camp.
