Anti-Trust Laws.
Washington, June 4.—Another blow

the Bherman anti-trust law.
Within the next ten days It Is prob
able that suits will be filed against the

Reech Creek railway for alleged viola
tions of the Isw In connection with coal
transportation.
It la snld at the department of Jus
tice that the report of Messrs. Todd
and 8lmpson, appointed by the presi
dent some months ago to Investigate
both the anthracite and bituminous
coal carrying roads, has been received
by the attorney general.
If the government Is succasaful In
these cases lines aggregating more.than
a million dollars will be Imposed, as
the agreement between the lines has
been In exletenre ten years and each
violation of the law constitute, a sepa.
rate offense.

Stocks Coal Case To Be Con
sidered Thursday
Afternoon.
The investigation of Thomas F.
Stocks, of th. water board, will be
held by council aa a committee of th.
whole Thursday afternoon at 3 o’clock.
A motion to this effect was Intro
duced by Councilman Hancock at the
council meeting Monday afternoon.
Councilman Terrell had moved that a
committee of five make the Investiga
tion, but he withdrew the motion.
A petition was rtad to council from
the North Georgia Electric Company,
In which the company asked that It be
given twelve months more time to
complete Its plant—from June 28, 1807,
to June 26, 1808. It was referred to the
electric light committee.
Councilman Terrell Introduced a
olutlon, providing for the placing of tha
present liquor llcenaes under a charter
amendment and It was referred to a
contmtttee of five, appointed by the
mayor pro tem. The committee Is
Coundlmen Terrell, Roberts and Grant
and Aldermen Peters and Key.

duced by the cemetery committee,
Councilman Taylor, chairman, which
provides for the creation of a commie

Oakland cemetery, the ordinance pro

The board of education reported that
the resolution by Councilman Terrell,

ing with auxiliary color work will be

A delegation from the Federation of
Dnbor, headed by Jerome Jones, pre
sented a memorial, asking that sev
eral officers now elected by council be
elected by the people.

The Federation asked that the city
clerk, the general manager of the wa
tt rworks and the comptroller be elected
by the people. It was referred to the
ordinance committee.
