Gadsden, Ala., June IS.—A local mixed freight train which Is operated between Attalla and Rome, da., on the Southern railway, collided with switch engine of tpo Alabama Great Southern railroad at Sulphur Springe yesterday and both engines were com pletely demolished. The passenger and freight train engines and two freight can were overturned and completely blocked the tracks for some distance. COREY IS STILL WITH BIO 8TEEL CORPORATION. New York, June 11.—Filing of srtl clee of Incorporation by the Minne sota Steel Company, controlled by the United States Steel Corporation, shows that W. E. Corey has not yet given up his Interest In the big steel company. He Is among the directors of the new company, - Four Would-Be Lawyers. The regular business of hearing cases was suspended In superior court Wed nesday while four applicants for ad- mission to the bar were standing the necessary examination. The examina tions were written and were held under the supervision of Judge Pendleton. The papers ere sent to the examining board without the names of the applicants, numbers bring used Instead. Macon, Ga, June II.—At noon today the Epworth Leagues of the South Georgia Conference convened In this city for tbclr sixth annual conference. Hundreds of delegates from all over South Georgia are In attendance, end one of the largest and most Interesting conferences ever held by the leagues Is now on In the Central Clty ; The program that haa been arranged for the conference Is full of Interesting speoches to be made by prominent men from various cities In ths conference. This afternoon the delegates were en tertained at a barbecue, held at the South Georgia Conference Orphans' Home, In Vlnevtlle. An Interesting program haa been ar ranged for the afternoon session of the convention. Tonight thd first meeting wilt be held In the parlors of the Mulberry Street Methodist church. The conference will last through Sun day. and the program for all the meet ings Is one of the most Interesting ever prepared. TWO MERCHANT BOATS ARE ORDERED BUILT. One of the largest moves of the com pany at the meeting yesterday was the announcement of their sending for two expert ship builders to come to Macon and begin the building of two large steamers. The ships will be built In this city nt the foot of Sixth street and work upon them will likely commence within the next ten days. Macon, Ga, June 13.—Officer Coley, who haa been laid up for several weeks from Injuries received In the shooting affair on Poplur street some time ago, la again on duty. The officer's thumb that was badly Injured during the trou ble Is about healed and hie left leg, which suffered from a slight flesh wound from a pistol shot. Is entirely healed and not giving the officer any trouble. JOYCE PLEAD8 GUILTY TO CHARGE OF FORGERY. Special to The Georgian. Macon, Ga, June II.—P. S. Special to The Georgian. Macon, Ga, June 13.—Conductor M. F. Bridges, Engineer L. Atkinson and Fireman W.' B. Parker, who were in jured in the Central freight wreck near Orchard Hill Monday night, have all been discharged from the city hospital. At first It was thought the.condltlon of the three men might prove serious, but It was found that they lied merely had a good shaking up. MACON PUBLIC SCHOOL8 - HAVE LARGE CLA88. The school year will end on Friday, June 21, and many are the boya and girls who are anxiously waiting for the calendar to creep around to that date. The pnst year has been a most success, ful one. There were more pupils en rolled than In any other year. There will be a large graduating class this year, of both young inen and women, who wtu receive their diplomas on next Friday. Herb, aged 31 years, died yesterday at the residence of hie sister, Mrs. E. Burnett, 270 Maple street. Mr. Herb was a brother-in-law of John R. and Tobe Burnett, of this city, and was one of the best known msn In Macon, being known among both old and young as “Uncle Bliley." Ha leaves two listers, Mrs. Burnett of Macon, and Mrs. J. W. Rawlings, of Chicago, 111., and one brother, Professor Frank Herb, of Houston, Texas. Little Boy Is Dead. Special to The Georgian. Macon, Qa., June 13.—After an Ill ness of about one month, Harry, the 11-montha-old eon of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Bwarlngen, died late yesterday afternoon at the home of the parents, on Huguenln Heights. The funeral serv ices were held this afternoon from the family residence, Rev. W. H. Budd of ficiating. The Interment was made In Riverside cemetery. VACATION STUDY. The members of the Sunday school of St. Johns Methodist church, to the number of 400, picnicked Thursday at llrownwood, near the Confederate Sol dlers' Home.
