July 1 Is the limit for returning taxes for the year, and as there are still nearly 6,000 delin quents, It Is easy to see that a large portion of these will fall to give In their taxes by the time the limit set by law Is up. The penalty for failure to give In these returns at the proper time Is a doubling of the assessment, and consequently the tax receiver sends urgent warning to all who have so far neglected this duty that they Imme diately take the matter up. This warn ing Is being heeded, and Mr. Armt- stead states that he hopes the list of delinquents will be smaller this year than for some time past.
