FLOOD OF HOUSE BILLS
BEFORE COMMITTEES
If the legislature of 1907 had deluded
Itself with the aangufne hope of an eaejr
and restful time, that hope was swept
away like mist before the gale when
nearly 900 new bills were Introduced
during the first week of the session.
The number of bills already Intro
duced are over half the number that
were Introduced at the session In 1909
and enough work Is already mapped
out for the house committees to keep
them busy day and night until the end
of the present session.
A few of the many new bills are as
follows:
To provide'for amendments to blits
of Indictment in courts of the state.
To amend section 5130 of code, with
reference to continuances.
To require taking end noting of ex
ceptions to aU rulings, orders and
charges In courts In civil and criminal
cases.
To amend section 2316 of code, rela
tive to refund -of overcharges by com
mon carriers.
By Messrs. Foster, of Cobb, and
Wright, of Richmond—To regulate pri
mary elections, holding of certain one
on same day, and to provide penalties
for election offenses.

section 3828 of code In regard to re
covery by representatives of homicides.
By Mr. Hule, of Clayton—Ho appoint
Joint committee to Investigate relations
existing between railroad companies
and fertilizer and cotton product man

In violation of the constitution.
By Mr. Covington, of Colquitt—To
require persons living In any counties
receiving shipments of liquors from

act making It Illegal to procure money
on contract by fraud.

occupation tax of 2 per cent on grosa
receipts, payable quarterly.

constitution relating to pensions
Confederate soldiers’ widows.

Carroll—To define meaning of word
poverty In relation to pension laws.
By Mr. Edwards, of Habersham—To

unlawful for street or electric railway
