And Woman s Interests J
OPPORTUNITY.
At every man'* door I knock once or
twice.
And aometitnea three timer three;
No man I pars by In hia utmost need,
-Though humble and poor be he.
Some see my chances and raise them
quick.
For I linger not on the way,
But the most of mankind are deaf and
blind,
- When I point them out the way.
I forae on no man my gift* of fate,
'Tla seldom I return;
If they do not know me when first I
come,
Tla too late when they learn.
I am the messenger of destiny.
That would wait on man's will;
But finding that sloth, In Its own way
doth
Scatter Its largess still.
Bitterly 'tla that men do rail
Against the decree* of fate;
And yet It la on the human will
That life doth often waif.
For what men call luck Is often naught
But ability In store.
To know the sound, when with sudden
pound.
Opportunity knocks at the door.
—From The Baltimore American.
