New Orleans, August 21.—Liverpool sup-
plied a little variety by being about four
)>olnta lower than due, which was looked
upon here us the result of expected flnnrt-
rial developments In London and of cables
nbout rains In Texas. Private reports this
tnornlng spoke of only Hr* ‘ * "
Texas, except Dallas and
by room traders.
Incomplete, particularly from Texas; to
check private news, and weather Informa
tion Is very vague. Good rains fell In the
drought section of Mississippi and north
Louisiana and temperatures are generally
lower except In the coast regfou. It Is as
tonishing how many people nre ngnlnst the
market In the face of present prices paid
for snot cotton, new and old. Futures are
already at 1 rent to 1ft ce; * — - -
prices, which has repea wily.
Futures are at too much discount
under spot prices to give way much. This
must be constantly borne In mind.
Market advnuelug on better feeling about
stocks and not enough rain In Texas. Map
the central and eaatern states, and cooler.
This should be enough advance for today,
but If the market softens a little, buy some.
Looks like -the long expected advance to
spot prices is now coming soon.
New York reports bear leader Is buying.
If the market softens n little, think It time
to buy for an upward movement In cotton.
Futures ore at too much discount under
spots, and there la a better feeling as to
finances. Repteiulxer Is the critical mouth
for storms, and the cold wave which caused
the recent showers Is disappearing, gtvlug
a chance for clearing weather In the west.
More confidence about flnnnclnl matters Is
at the bottom of this advance. Cotton fu
tures too much lndow spot prices. Big
operators preparing for an upward move
ment in the market. May have some small
set backs, but looks to me an advance Is
under way. . J ,
Reliable spot house wires from Houston:
“Texas had some showers, but they have
done no good. Texas crop can only be a
moderate one.**

Town Topics: We look for nn active

not be considered bearish with stocks at
present levels. Crops nre making a fair
average and the high prices assure the
farmer another year of splendid prosperity,
so there Jh nothing to rear regarding busi

Is all that la needed to bring about impor
