SS.—On the charge of not walking his heat with the din patch that he should have done, Pa. trolman T. B. Jones was tried before the police committee and dismissed from the force. Alderman Boifdra ap peared before the committee and re ported that he saw Patrolman Jones sitting down at two different places on the Bridge Row beat. The patrolman stoutly denied the charge. Had he admitted breaking this police regulation he would have been given a. small fine or suspended for a few days, but under th. circum stances the committee decided to drop him from the force. Instead of Mrs. Thomas being on hand at the appointed time her husband and her brother were there. It hapeened that a young man named Barron, collector for a local furniture house, arrived about the same time, and not knowing the young man both Thomas and Milligans set upon Barron, beating him badly, thinking he was the sender of the letter. In which all the unions of the city are preparing to take part. C. F, K. New York, Aug. 22.—Ths heads of ths Interborough-Metrolltan Company have refused to open their books to the public service commission. The com mission has been notified that because the company Is not a corporation, but morel}* a holding concern, It Is ths belief of Its officers that the Inter- ugh-Metrepolltan Is not within the Jurisdiction of ths commission. This jeeamo known last evening after the adjournment of the continued Inves tigation by ths commission Into the local railroads.
