solidated, and will from now on Issue
only one paper, under the name
of the Cordele Weekly Journal, A. J.
Tlson acting as editor. The Poet was
formerly publlehed by S. R. Fields,
and since consolidating hie paper and
S tinting plant with that of the Journal,
tr. Field* will retire from the news
paper business and devote hla time to
developing the town of Double Run, at
the Junction of the A, B. St A. rail
road and the Oulf Railway.

ARMSTRONG TO TAKE
•DR. BENSON’S PLACE
Dr. C. F. Benson has announced that
on Monday afternoon he will tender
to council his resignation as a member
of the board of health. Dr. Benson
Is now president of the board.
He gives as a reason, that he has
moved from tho second ward, which
He represented, to the eighth ward,
and under a city ordinance when a
member of the board moves from the
ward from which ho was elected he
shall resign.
Tho counellmanlc delegation from
the second ward has agreed upon Dr.
W. B. Armstrong as the successor of
Dr. Benson and he will be elected by
a unanimous vote. It being the custom
to allow the delegation from each ward
to aelect that ward’s representative on
the board of health.
Dr. Benson announced he would re
sign at the meeting of tbe board Fri
day afternoon.
