Thursday afternoon at 6 o'clock
Mrs. W. C. Jarnagln will be hostess
at a musical tea. which will be given
at her home on Juniper street, the oc
casion to be for the benefit of the Dis
trict Nurses' Kund. Over two hun
dred Invitations will be Issued, and the
.occasion will be a brilliant and delight
ful one. The soloists of the occasion
will be Mrs. Josephine Skinner and
Miss Louise Van Harlingen. Mrs.
Skinner, who has recently come to At
lanta from Cleveland, Ohio, to make
her home here, possesses a magnificent
contralto, and will be a valuable ac
quisition to Atlanta's musical circles.
Miss Louise Van Harlingen Is known
to Atlanta audiences, but has not been
heard here often since her recent re
turn from New York. Her beautiful
soprano is highly cultivated, nnd her
programs are ultvays notable -for their
artistic beauty.
Miss Oertrude Westmoreland will be
the accompanist of the occasion, a
fact which further assures Its success.

Miss Ludne Finch, the daughter of
Mrs. Julia Neely Finch, of Birming
ham, Is achieving success as a maga-
line writer. Already widely known aa
a dialect reader and Interpreter of
Southern- folk lore, or rather of the
pure negro tongue unmixed with the
dialect of the plantation. Miss Finch
has attempted maguslne work within
the past few months, and many of the
leading mngaxlnes ore accepting her
articles and poems.
The daughter of so talented a moth
er, It Is not surprising that Miss Finch
has had little difficulty In. winning lar
ger audiences through her magatlne
writings, but for such recognition as
she has received from the editors of
Harper, the American ami other pub
lications there Is undeniable evidence
that her own talents are being appre
ciated by men who feel the. trend of
the reading world and rarely. If ever,
make a mistake in their selection of
