HAYWARD. VICK A CLARK'S
DAILY COTTON LETTER.
New Orleans, Sept. 10.—Liverpool
was about aa due. Our market of
fered some cotton for sale on tho ab
sence of news of storm damage. How
ever, expectation of bullish government
reports on Wednesday held bear selling
within bounds throughout the morning
session. Weather map shows consider
ably lower temperatures In the north
eastern belt, with a cold wave moving
eastward, liable -to cause still colder
weather In Tennessee and North Caro
lina. Cloudy weather and rain Is Indi
cated for the western portion. Ae far
aa the Influence of the financial situa
tion Is concerned reports from the In
terior already begin to Indicate an
easier feeling on account of returns
for the crop marketed and u change
In feeling generally Is beginning to be
voiced by the press. People seem to
realise the amount of manipulation
and design In this financial depression.
The scheme on the part of railroad and
i trust magnates to enlist public sentl-
i ment against tho present administra
tion by lowering the value of scrurltlce
nnd returns for crops being recognised
by the masses and an Independent
spirit la developing.
New York, Sept. 8#.—Bartlett, h ro
ller & Carrington: The Liverpool mar-
ket came lower, but soon after the
opening some excellent buying by a
leading commission house, which sub
sequently Issued a report firing the
condition as 71.41. against 76.08 tost
month, forced the market up about 20
to 80 points from tho lower levels of
the early morning. Special reports say
thnt ths southwest outlook Is unfavor
able—complaints of drought In Arkan
sas and Texas with boll weevil damage.
Season tote with picking just com
menced In Arkansas. The reports on
Louisiana and Mississippi art very
bullish. The market showed distinct
evidences of shorts covering on an ex
tensive scale this morning. This Is the
Bret decided advance with any snap or
K since tho depression last week. We
lleve the market will go some fur
ther, ss shorts will show more fear aa
the time for government report ap-
Hooches. Ths uncertainty regarding
he frost date Is holding prices firm. We
hink It advisable to stay out of the
narket until after the government re
tort.

If the varlons farmers' unions would derot# |

Heavy gold arrivals In Ixjndon today.
Some of this gold will go to the conti

President will begin speech-making
today, and from all accounts there will
be no change announced In policies.
The Hill address at Minneapolis Sat

Ing up to high mark, and will continue
to for some time.
Town Topics: We seo no reason to expect
anything better In the market at present
than temporary rallies through short cover

of the leading issues, which are each day
falling to new low levels, will not only
