A brilliant wedding of Wednesday
evening waa that of Mias Lucia God
dard and Mr. Edward Hallyburton at
Orlffln.
The marriage occurred at the First
Methodist church at 7 o’clock.
The decorations were of Southern
smllax and pots of ferns.
Mias Annie Goddard, sister of the
bride, was maid of honor, and Misses
Carrie Gresham, Ethel Briggs, Nellie
Mills and Bertha Brawner were brides
maids.
The little flower bearers were Marian
Gresham, Rosalind Janes, Jack Gresh
am and William Janes.
The wedding march was played by
Miss Alllne Cninmlng, and the ceremo
ny performed by Rev. J. 8. Jenkins.
Immediately after the ceremony a
reception was held at the residence of
the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. W.
Goddard after which Mr. and Mrs. Hal-
l.vburton left for Morgantown, N. C.,
on a visit to the groom’s relatives.
BABY SHOW" AT FAIR.
The mothers interested In the baby
show which will be held at the fair
Saturday afternoon from 1 to 3 o’clock
are requested to be on hand at the
horse show building promptly at 13
o'clock with their children.
The voting on babies will begin
promptly at I o’clock, and after that
hour no children will be admitted.

COL. AND MRS. GRAVES.
A unique and pretty compliment to
Colonel and Mrs. John Temple Graves
was the serenade given them Thurs
day evening at their home In College
Park by the girls and faculty of Cox
College.
The Choral Society and the girls of
the college were in excellent training,
and as the occasion was in the nature
of a farewell to Colonel and Mrs.
Graves, who leave soon to make their
home In . New York, a number of ap
propriate farewell songs had been com
posed by different classes. These songs
were sung to *Auld X.ang Syne" and
other tunes and at their conclualon the
glrla and teachers were received by
Colonel and Mrs. Graves and the occa
sion proved Ihe happiest surprise party
of the season In College Park.
MRS. CALHOUN'S BRIDGE.
Mrs. Andrew Calhoun was the host
ess at a small bridge party Friday aft
ernoon. at her home on Eleventh street,
the guests of honor being Miss Trlggs
and Mlsa Martin, of Chattanooga, and
Miss Samuella Whitman.
Mrs. Cnlhoun received her guests In
s toilette of blue voile combined with
blue silk.
Miss Trlggs wore black lace over

green voile.

cloth trimmed with silk braid

Dr. J. Fheston King returned a few
days ago from Columbus. Ohio, where
he spent several weeks with Mrs. King,
who has been ill of typhoid fever at a
private sanitarium In that city. Mr*.
King was Improving when Dr. King left
t’olupibus, but on Friday received a tel
egram saying thAt she was not doing so
well. Mrs. King’s parents. Mr. and Mrs.
Marriott, of Alabama, are with her at
the sanitarium.
Mr. and Mrs. F. T. Williams, of
Athens, have moved to Atlanta to make
this city their future home.
Mrs. J. N. Booth and Misses Pauline
and Lillian Booth, of Athens, will spend
the week-end in Atlanta.
Mist Kdna Brooks is visiting Mrs.
Edgar Winter at Montgomery.
Mrs. Lawton B. Evans, who Is the
guest of Qeneral C. A. Evans, will re
turn to her home at Augusta on Satur
day.
Mrs. J. M. Leighton is In Atlanta,
where she has spent the past week.
This morning Mr. Leighton was sum
moned to Catsvllle. Ga., by the serious
Illness of his brother. He will stop In
Atlanta and his wife will accompany
hlnv to Cassville. They* will probably
