The fair opened on October 30 and
will laet until November 10. Since the
gates were thrown open, the railroads
have been carrying largo crowde of
negToes from Atlanta to Macon and
this traffic la Increasing.
Tuesday morning the Southern rail
way officiate were compelled to put
several extra coaches on the regular
pesaenger train leaving for Macon In
order to accommodate the many ne
groes who were on their way to the
big show. Similar conditions are re
ported by the officials of the Central of
Georgia railroad.

New York. Nov. 6.—Miss Helen Ma
loney, the Philadelphia heiress, haa be
come reconciled to her father, Martin
Maloney, who has forgiven her elope
ment with Samuel Clarkson, the Eng
lishman. She la now on her way home
from Europe.
This fact was disclosed today In con
nection with the affairs of Arthur Her
bert Osborne, the young New York
Camp Walker Veterans.
Camp Walker, U. C. V., will hold a
meetln- Thursday night at camp head
quarters, to.arrange for attending the
unveiling of the DeKalb county Con-
federato monument. Transportation
will be furnished members of the camp
Saturday. They will appear in uniform
and badge.

a full-blooded Cherokee Indian, of
Waco, Texan, formerly a ntudent at

Walker, of Newport, Ky., were granted
a marriage license here yesterday and
were later married by 'Squire Donnel-

WHEN SEXTON CAME
Albany. N. Y.. Nov. 5.—When It
came time for the sexton to ring the
bell In the tower of the Kenwood Bap
tist chapel Sunday he found there was
no bell to toll. The bell weighed half
a ton and how It waa, got out of the
belfry and carted away la a mystery.
The tradition goes that the- bell was
made from cannon metal, the guns
furnishing It having been taken out of
the Confederate Ironclad Merrlmac.

kany. C. D. Boyle, a railway agent, was
shot and klllsd by John McNeills. Boyle
was In the station when McNeills en
tered intoxicated, and said that If he
had a pistol and a bottle of whisky he
would commit suicide. Boyle handed
McNeills a pistol. McNeills walked
outside the building and shot Boyle
through a window.

building of Sweet * Tanner Is fast
nearing completion and many new oc
cupants are moving In and getting
ready for business. This la one of
the largest and flnest building* li
south Georgia, and will coet, when'com
pleted, about 360,000.
The large quarter nilllion-doltar saw
mill, built by the Ashley-Prlce Lum
ber Company here, is now In operation
and will turn out from 80,000 to 76.000
feet of lumber dally. Without buying
more timber, they have a cut that will
last about twelve years. .
The agricultural buildings of the
Eleventh congressional district are fast
being llnlshed. They are built on the
same plans of the other district build
ings. with a cement brick face, which
add* much to the architectural beaut]
of the building*. About 3100.000 Is be.
