"We ulll not determine tor a few

the rights of the state.”
This was the only statement made by
Governor Smith Tuesday afternoon at
12:30 o'clock, following iit extended
conference with Attorney General Hart
and Hon. Boykin Wright, of Augusta.
The conference was held over the
back tax decision of the United States

HERE’S YOUR CHRISTMAS LIST
The opinion has been thoroughly
.liMtstled by Judge Hart rind Mr.
Wright, but It Is probable that some
question has arisen requiring further
consultation.
It was ascertained Tuesday morning
that while In Washington recently Gov
ernor Smith made arrangements to se.
cure the missing Confederate rolls from
the war department practically with
out cost to the state.
This will be accomplished on n reci
procity basis. The government Is pub
lishing the records as rapidly as pos
sible. Much valuable data la missing,
and Governor Smith arranged for this
state to furnish this matter, while the
government will supply the missing
Confederate rolls for the service. This
clears up n vexed problem, and makes
possible the completion of the Con
federate rolls of the ataje.
