to blow safes, la helleved to have acci
dentally exploded 600 quarts of nitro
glycerine at the Dupont Powder Com
pany’s magazine, near here, today. Only
a few fragments of ' the. man ware
to be found. The total damage la es
timated at 110,000.

Charles G. Edwards, of the First

Committee Recommends
Several Changes and
More to Come.
Thi* annual report of the committee
salaries, Councilman Bnikln. chairman, was
one of the raattera that wna not considered
at the meeting of council Monday, but which
will lie taken up at the adjourned session
nest Monday.
The committee recommends hut few
changes In the present salaries. They are:
City Warden—Increase from $1,200 to $1,.

young man. Lendiua Darley, at Kinder
Lou, on Saturday night. He was taken
from hts boarding house by masked

failed to return, his relatives believed
he had been killed, and a search was
made for his body. He reappeared at
the home of hie brother. In this city,
late last night. The young man con
firmed the report of the whipping.
