An ne H«m Ameabury, a teacher of mu- itc In Poenoko College, Ve, and well known In the South u a finger, wae ihot and Inatantly killed by her hue- hand, Dr. Walter R. Ameabury, of Mil ford, at the home of Mra. Jennie Reee, mother of the dead woman, here ye«- terday. A dteagreement between the husband and wife which resulted in their sepa ration several years ago, Is supposed to have been the cause of the shooting, and It Is also asserted that Mrs. Ameabury wae contemplating divorce proceedings. yesterday Dr. Ameabury came from Amesbury to have dinner with his wife and boys. After the party was seated at the dinner table Dr. Amesbury and his wife engaged in a conversation which terminated suddenly when the dootor pulled a revolver from his pocket and flred two shots at close range, both bullets penetrating Mrs. Amesbury's breast, killing her instantly. Dr. Amesbury was later are rated on the charge of murder. He will be giv en a hearing today. Chairman J. W. Grant Urges Higher Salaries For City Teachers.
