French Hand Made
magic
“Hand -made —a word in which there s
• | charm for the woman who “cares.”
The woman who cares is she whose love of dainti-
: ness is .horn of real refinement and hence is the genuine
™ article.
She s the woman to whom sentiment is something;
j : to whom the “real thing, whether in folks or fashions,
| makes its direct appeal.
Like all truly tasteful lingerie, these garments are
1 simply fashioned. It is in the delicacy of the weave, of
i ,the linen lawn, the nainsook, the cambric, the firm even-'
| ness of the embroidery—now a simple floral, now a rich
s and graceful hurst of conventionalized blossoms and-
leaves, with exquisite hits of openwork lacily inwrought
—and in the beauty of the rolling, the whipping, the
i hemming, the tucking, the putting together, that these
* find their chiefest charm. The lines are excellent—
truly Parisian, and their grace is readily, apparent to the
feminine eye. ’ -
We buy these things, you understand, in Paris.
New York shops buy theirs in Pans, too—that is to
say, the best of New York shops. We have, therefore,
just the same things, and in a variety that leaves nothing
to he desired.

“Here the needle plies Us busy task;
The put tern grows, the well-depicted
flower ,
Wrought patiently into the snowy lawn
Unfolds sis bosom; buds and leaves find
sprigs
And curling tendrils gracefully dis
posed
follow the tumble'fingers of the fair—
A wreath that cannot fade."
“Let thy mind's sweetness have its
operation.
Upon thy person, clothes and habita
tion. ” - ,

shop ligene styles enough to meet the wants and tastes of
all comers. e can not, we don t want to, regulate
styl es. But we can, in our own buying, regulate quali
ties.
• We can turn down and refuse the sleazy, skimpy,
poorly cut excuses for undergarments that are offered
for sale by some manufacturers. ^Ve don't handle infe
rior stuff. We want none of your sweat-shop incom
petence, your slurred-over seams, your hit-and-miss fit
tings, your whacked-out ruffles and gaping buttonholes.
We don't even remotely consider such trash.
We have time—and desire—to get only goods that
are worth having.
And this, you understand, does not mean that we
carry only high-priced things. Not at all. ^Ve carry
an inexpensive line of ready-made underwear because we
have a demand for it. But we • look out for the best of
this grade.
So that if you want plain, little-costing, simple
skirts, chemise, drawers, night gowns, and so on, you
can get them. But they will he well-made and reliable.
They will have been inspected and approved by our buy-
er--and you will he getting the best of their class.
