Unlea, present Indications come to
naught, the year 190R will be one of
the biggest years politically that Ful
ton county has seen In several genera-
tlona. With every county officer to be
elected, from surveyor nn up the Hat,
and with opposition gradually develop
ing In various quarters. It now appears
that there will be Interesting things
rSmlng to pox, before the candidates
enter the last Ian on June 4, the day
aet for the county primary.
Altho tha political pot Is boiling
slowly. It la boiling nevertheless, and
altho the candidates sre rather shy
about coming out Into tli, open and
boldly shying their castor Into the po
litical arena, there are tipple Indica
tion* that the situation la being viewed
by numerous political aspirants of Ful
ton county with a view to sooner or
later breaking Into th* race for one of
the c'ounty offices.
Tha county offices which will he con
tested for this year are the following:
Judge and solicitor of the city court,
two county commissioners, sheriff, clerk
of tha superior court, treasurer, tax
collector, tax receiver, aollcltor of the
superior court, ordinary, three members
ef the legislature, coroner and survey-
dr. In addition to these, the recent
action of the Fulton county Democratic
executive committee will make It neces-
aary for the tni'mberi of that body to
go before the. people and they will be
voted for at the primary in June.
But Few Opponents.
L'p to the present time, opposition to
none of the present'office-holders has
developed, with the exception of those
of Judge of the city court, sheriff nnd
coroner. R. H. Blackburn, former mem
ber of th* legislature, has announced
hla candidacy In opposition to Judge
Andy t'alhoun. the Incumbent.
Dr. John IV. .Volins, who has been sher
iff of Fulton county for a number of
year*. Is ft candidate for re-election.
Wheeler Muuguni also Is a candidate.
O. Paul Donehoo will make the raco
for coroner In opposition to Mr. Thomp
son.
The two members of the board of
county commissioners whose terms ex
pire this year are judge K. B. Rosser
and Judge II. K. W. Palmer, both of
whom are flnlsliliw their third term. It
la understood that both these gentle
men will stand for re-slectlon, anti It
Is rumored that they will have opposi
tion In the persons of Dr. J. D. Turner
and J. D. Dsmeron. The prospective
candidates are well matched and the
race for places on the county hoard
wilt he watched with Interest.
, Altho none of the county officer* ha,
officially announced hla Intention In
regard to th* matter. It la generally
understood that all the following -of
ficers will he candidates for re-election:
Judge Andy Calhoun and Rolirltnr
Lowry Arnold, of the city court: Ordi
nary John R. Wilkinson. Clerk Arnold
Broyles. Treasurer H. I.. Culberson.
Tax Collector Btewarl. Tex Receiver
Armlstead. Solicitor Charley D. Hill,
Coroner Thompson. Surveyor Robert.
Of this number only th* ordinary and
solicitors of the court* are elected for
terms of four ysere. th* others Itelng
elected for two year*. It Is also under,
stood that all the members of the coun
ty executive committee will go lietore
the people for re-election. Whether
there will be other candidate outside
of these Is not known.
For Legislature.
A race which will be watched with
absorbing Interest Is that for the state
legislature. By reason of Its aise. Ful
ton county la allowed three represen
tatives In ihs lower house, hut from
■sent Indication* ten would hardly
enough to go around. The names of
almost a dozen prominent young poll.
Helen* of the county have been men
tioned In connection with th* rare, and
It Is probable Hum at least six of thsm
will stay In until the finish. Neither
of Fulton’s former representatives, who
were John M. Slaton. R. H. Blackburn
*ml Madison Bell, will he In the race,
and th* Held Is left open to whomsoever
will enter.
ll Is generally expected that many
of th* county officer* will have no op-
position, but It Is probable Hint before
many moons havs waned a sufficient
number of opponents will be In th*
Held to guarantee some of the tallest
hustling that the good county of Fulton

The cure for the blues—Cascarets.
A million boxes go out every month
to carry a world of sunshine.
Are you getting your share?
Cascarets act as a bowel tonic, not as an irritant.
They are vegetable. Their action is natural. Their
effect is the same as the effect of some foods.
They are'gentie; no griping.
They are pleasant; no dreading.
They are convenient; no waiting.
One old way was castor oil.
The effect was to grease the bowels, and for a single
day. Oil never causes the bowel muscles to act.
Other ways were pills, salts and cathartics. The effect
was the same as pepper has in the nostrils. They
flooded the bowels with fluid.
Those fluids were digestive juices. And the waste
today means a lack tomorrow.
