Chapman, of Atlanta, representing the
Alabama, Railway and Electric Com
pany. was here yesterday looking over
the fleld her# for the propsed elec
tric line from Opelika to Euraula. Mr.
Chapman says that It Is the purpose of
the company to begin at an early date
and push things to completion as rapid
ly as money and energy can do It. He
also said It was the Intention of the
company to build north as soon as the
people want a road, the present plans
being to build the car line from this
city to Eufaula and thence southward.

OPELIKA, Ala., April 23.—Memorial
day will be appropriately observed In
Opelika Monday. The orator of the
day will be Rev. J. P. McFerrln, pastor
of the Methodist church of Columbus,
Ga. The exercises will be held at the
school auditorium, after which the
procession will march to the city ceme
tery. where (he grave* of the Confed
erate dead will be marked with flags.
The exercises will be under the aus
pices of the Ladles' Memorial Associa
tion. of which Mrs. M. B. Whitfield Is
