The principal topic of the commu
nication Is an urgent appeal to Miss
Hardwick, the principal, to be "spared
our lessons on Monday, the 37th In
stant.” and the appeal Is made "In
behalf of all soldiers, living and de
ceased. and the fallen heroes of the
Civil war." To the communication Is
affixed the seal of the seventh grade.

the speakers at the sixth annual ban
quet of the Gamma Iota Chapter of the
Psl Omegn dentnl fraternity of the
Southern Dentnl College at the Aragon
Thursday night. he affair was
entirely delightful and closed with the
presentation of the fraternity diplomas
to the graduating members.

With fair weather, the unveiling of
the DeKalb Confederate monument In
Decatur Saturday morning at 10 o'clock
will draw a great crowd from all parts
of the county. Many veterans from At
lanta will attend. General Clement A.
Kvnns. for whom the Confederate ramp
Is named, will accept the monument In
behalf of the veterans. Hon. Hooper
Alexander will deliver the principal ad
dress. School children from all the
towns of DeKalb, the cadets of Donald
Fraser and the students of Agnes Scott
College will attend In a body.

Ryan Says 6 Per Cent Rep
resents All the Cash
Stock.
NEW YORK, April 24.—Thomas F.
Ryan told the special county grand Jury
which Investigated the Metropolitan
Street railroad that not a dollar had
been paid for 95 per cent of the stock
of the railroads of this country. All
but 5 per cent of the railroad stock
was water, as Mr. Ryan expressed It.
He made tills statement to show the
grand Jury how the other railroads
compared with the Metropolitan which,
he said, had 13 1-3 per cent of Ita 160,-
000.000 of its capltnl stock paid In. Mr.
Ryan had read his formal statement
about the organization of the Met
ropolitan from Its Inception and he
concluded It with this remark:
"That Is In answer to the statement
that has been made for the last live
years that the Metropolitan Street rail
way stock Is all water.” —

Dr. Frazier to Study Con
crete Before Letting
Contract.
MACON, Ga„ April 24.—Dr. E. P.
Frazier, who contemplate* building one
of the largest hotele In the South, will
leave the first week In June with Hen
ry Horae, for New York city, where
the two gentlemen will attend the
demonstrations to be held by experts
at Madison Square Garden, on build
ings made of concrete.
The hotel of Dr. Frazier's will
built of concrete and containing 150
rooms, all connecting with private
baths. The hotel will have one of the
largest ball rooms of any hotel In the
South and several private dining rooms,
besides a (lrst close cafe.
Dr. Frazier will not commence the
building until early fall, as most of the
material used In the construction will
be shipped from New York and own
Eastern cities. >

of the Bibb county board of education,
will preeent the sixty-three young la
dles and gentlemen with their diplomat.
The class this year Is one of the larg
est graduated at Gresham in several
years.

Hoke Smith club hae been duly organ
ised with Hon. T. S. Felder as presi
dent, and five vice presidents, each rep

MACON VOLUNTEERS
GAVE DANCE AT CLUB
MACON, Ga., April 24.—The Macon
Volunteer* celebrated their eighty-
third anniversary on Thursday night,
when the company held a dance at the
Log Cabin Club. After eighty-three
year*, the Volunteers have grown from
a few member* to one of the largest
military companies In the South.

bags, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Brum*

her parents, on Oglethorpe-st., after an

In the field for various offices In Bibb
county are being pressed by the Anti
Saloon League to declare themselves on
prohibition. While a great many have
stated they were In favor of prohibi
tion, others have not mande an answer.
The Anti-Saloon League will support
all candidates who Indorse prohibition.

MACON, Ga„ April 24.—Edward
Frtel was arrested Thursday by Officer
Avanat, charged with violating the
prohibition law.
It was charged that an express driv
er delivered a pasteboard box- supposed
to contain several quarts of liquor at
Frlel's soft drink stand on Flfth-at.
