One of the first picnics of the senson
was enjoyed May 1 by the pupils of
Jackson Hill Home School. Leaving
. school About 12 o’clock, they enjoyed
their picnic lunch under the trees and
then enjoyed the attractions of the
pa>k. ‘ They were chaperoned by Misses

Miss Ellene Glenn To Wed Prof. Johnson
Hon. and Mrs. G. R. Glenn. of Dah-
lonega, announce the engagement of
their daughter. Anne Ellene, to Profes
sor Albert Johnson, of the University
of Wisconsin, the wedding to tuke place
In the autumn.
The announcement Is one of wide In
terest In Atlanta, Miss Glenn having
formerly resided here. She Is a young
wpman of charming personality us well
as decided musical and literary gifts,
and while in newspaper work here es
tabllshed a reputation as one of the
cleverest newspuper women In the
state.
Professor Johnson Is w'ell known In
educational work and holds a chair In
the University of Wisconsin. He Is
member of the A. T. O. fraternity and
a champion athlete.
MRS. 8MYTHE ENTERTAINS.
Mrs. J. Adger Hmythe gave a beauti
ful tea on Monday afternoon In honor
of her sister and house guest, 51rs.
Francis O'Neil, of Charleston, 8. C.
Mrs. Smythe'a attractive apartments
were decorated throughout with pink
roses and palms. The roses were ar
tistically arranged In silver vases. The
lights were shaded In pink rose shades
and all the decorations conformed to
the color inotlf.
The tea table had as a centerpiece a
large sliver vase of Da France roses,
while smaller silver vases of the pink
roses were grouped around the central
vase. The bonbons and mints were
pink and served In silver dishes and
compotes. Silver candlesticks held
candles shaded In pink and the cakes
and Ices were In the shape of pink
roses,
Mrs. E, 8. Bhney presided at the
punch bowl and was handsomely
gowned in pale blue cloth, combined
with cream princess© lace.
Mrs. Smythe wore a 1 llngerlo gown
trimmed In lace and hand-made tucks.
Mrs. O'Neil was also gowned In a hand*
miule lingerie and lace costume.
About twenty-five guests called dur
ing the hours of the pretty afternoon
tea.
