SAVAGE DOG DISFIGURES GIRL;
SHE IS KEPT FROM PUBLIC GAZE
NEW YORK, Sect, 17—The death of
Giovanni P. Moroslnt haa revealed to
the public the secret which has made
the old banker’s mansion at Riverdale
known as "the house of mystery." It
concerns the tragedy of the banker's
youngest daughter. Amelia, of whoso
existence the public has known noth

In print.
The neighbors at Riverdale knew
that ten or fifteen years ago a bright
eyed little girl was Included In Mr.
Moroslnl's family of live children. A
few years after her mother's death, In
1893, the youngest child was lost to
view—as completely swallowed up as
was the older sister, Victoria, after her
elopement with Ernest Schilling, the
family coachman, ond banishment by
her father to a Vermont convent.
A few Intimate friends heard In
directly that Amelia had been bitten
and frightfully disfigured for life by
some animal—a dog. a pet bear, or a
horse—so different versions of the sto.
ry ran, but none of the family would
mention the subject.
“Mr. Morosinl," said one of his most
Intimate friends and advisers, "always
spoke of hts youngest daughter as ‘my
darling Amelia.' She, fully as much as
Miss Giulia, was the apple of his eye
and her misfortune did much more than
the elopement of Victoria with the
coachman to sadden his later years,
He never told even me the particulars
of Miss Amelia's disfigurement, but I
know that he spent hours with her
every day and that the family did
everything In Its power to make her
comfortable and happy."
AnSelln Morosinl Is now 22. She Was
about 12 when a savage dog attacker
her and Inflicted the Inturles wMcl
