By a clever piece of detective work
jlra. Springer, wife of I. Springer, a
furnlaher at 95 Whitehall-et„ Tuesday
afternoon caused the arrest of Will
Blgby, a young negro porter at the
store, and put an end to a long aeries
of robberies that have been expensive
to the proprietors and puzsllng to the
police.
Mrs. Springer suspected that Blgby
was responsible for the mysterious dis
appearance of eutta and other articles
that have constantly been missing for
the past few months, so a trap wan laid
for him.
When it came time to close the shop
the lady concealed herself In the suit
and cloak department. Blgby soon
slipped Into the room and selected a
rutt, which he tossed thru the door Into
an ash barrel. Without arousing his
suspicions, Mrs. Springer summoned the
police and Blgby was locked up In the
station house.
