Gift Umbrellas
'Twas all very well for Polonius to give Laertes
that good advice—
“Neither a borrower nor a lender be”~~
but he manifestly was not talking about Umbrellas.
First place, they didn't have umbrellas to talk about.
An’ if they had had, 'twouldn't have been much use
to fulminate against the borrowing of the same. The
cheerful borrower would have gone merrily on with
his accommodating art—just as he does today.
There's only one way to stop it. And that is
for Everybody to have his own Umbrella. Happy
thought! And now's a happy time to put it into ac
tion. We will help.
Our Umbrellas seem actually to be putting them
selves up for special attention these fore-Christmas
days. And no wonder. So many of them! Such a
goodly company of kinds and qualities! Such reasona
ble prices!
Here are Umbrellas for everybody, prices for
everybody, styles for everybody.

CITY IS A PROBLEM
TO THE MINISTERS
"Problems of the City Ministry” i
th, subject of an Inspiring address by
Rev. J. T, Daves, presiding elder of th*
Atlanta district, at the meeting of the
Methodist Pastors' Association Mon
day morning.
Dr. Davas slated that the sermons
required by city charges should be es
pecially charged with the divine mes
sage; should be markedly evangelical
and should be adapted to the condi
tions of city life. He sold It was th*
pressing problem of the church to get
and retain hold of the multitudes which
were more and more flocking to the
cities. He also spoke of th* Influences
operating against th* cause of Chris
tianity In the city. Referring to "The
Devil," a recent theatrical presentation,
he said:
'•From the press accounU of this play
how can we expect our young people to
witness such without being stained by
IU Influence, a play In which the mar.
rlage vow Is set at naught by the devt.
and which ende with & sneer at the
possibility of virtue.”’

why not take- advantage of It? The paper costs them nothing extra during this Christmas ballot offer.
All letters containing subscriptions which show this evening’s postmark, will be allowed a Christmas bal
lot for each new yearly inclosqd. This permits one and all to work till the very last minute.
"Today Is short; yesterday Is gone; tomorrow may never come.” The Drat part of this trite saying should
apply to every contestant In th* race, when It comes to the time remaining In which you can take advantage of

have done In the past away, where It will be available for future use. Start In every morning with a determine,
tlon to get so many subscriptions during the day, and you will be surprised at the ease with which you accom
plish It. Should "Tomorrow never come." we would all be In the same position; the prizes would have no value
for us or anyone else. .Our past' acts would be the only asset of value remaining. We would all be Judged alike
and credit would bo given according to our past actions.’
Do not worry About the future; let The Georgian do that, as Ik Is part of our business. Secure every
subscription possible and earn one of our Chrlstmaa ballots, make your present acta count and they will in
be credited to you In the future.
If the contest turns out to be a failure, don't you worry about It, as It would b* our first failurs, and we
can stand It. Do not let our Valuable gift* go begging because they cost us a lot of money. It Is not yqur fsult
bscause ths subscriptions and voles ARE NOT coming In by the hundreds of thousands for The Georgian. Don’t
you worry about "the man behind" you; take our advice and keep your eyes open for the on* ahead of you and
try and pass him. /
CONTEST CLOSES.
The Georgian's contest will close at 13 o'clock midnight. January 21, 1302. By so doing ths 35,001
