The trading In Atlanta realty for the
.past week has proved one of the most
active weeks of the present year.
In the auction of the J. H. McCord
property on Walton-st., J. T. Kim
brough secured lot 1 with a bid of
*552 per front foot; Edgar Dunlap the
second lot for *256; W. B. Matthews,
the third and fourth lots at *250 and
*249; C. B. Stewart the fifth lot for
*249. and Randall Brothers the last
two lots for *250 per front foot. Mr.
Dunlap will-build a store on hla lot
Immediately Hnd several of the other
purchasers stated that they would
probably reach some conclusion re
garding the Improvement of their lots
within th* next week or ten days. It
Is generally understood that all of this
Improvement will be along the line of

*9.300 cash. Jack Stewart also pur
chased the old Stewart.home on Pryor-
*t., *4,000 being, the consideration.
Some 200 enthusiastic Atlantans at
tended a meeting of the West Side
Progressive club Tuesday night. Talk*
by members of the steering committee
and plans for the widening of west
side streets nnd other Improvements
were generally discussed.
At a called meeting of the city coun
cil of Decatur, a. committee was named
for the purpoao of considering the ad-

homes will be of marble and among the

The matter of purchasing Informa
tion relative to the 50,000 new Iota
which will bo brought Into Atlanta
January 1, 1910, from the Atlanta Title
and Guarantee Co., has been referred
to Alderman W. A. Hancock, chair
man nf the tax committee; Chairman
Amorous, of the finance committee, and
the mayor.

One of the big auctions of the year
was that of the E. Rivers Realty Co.,
when the property of J. R. Smith, be-
I tween East Point and Hapevllle. was
sold Saturday. This property brought
*20.704 and Is another Instance of-the
advancing values of all Atlanta sub
urban property.
According to present plans, some six
new churches will be erected In At-
] lanta this year, while several others
' contemplate additions and Improve
ments on a large scale. These new
structures will aggregate some *200,000,
nnd when completed will add much to
the beauty of the city, which long ago
was famous throughout the country for
the number and beauty of Its churches.
; Reported estimates of the cost Include
*60.000 for the Capltol-ave. Baptist
church; St. Anthony* church, *40,000;
Fourth Presbyterian, *10.000; Pryor-st.
Presbyterian, *16.000: Oakland City
Baptist, *7,500, and *7,600 for the Grant
Park Baptist church. The Second Bap
tist church will build a Sunday school
room costing *25,000, while similar ad
ditions for the Westminster Presbyte
rian and Capltol-ave. Baptist churches
are estimated nt *15,000 each.
Work on the Forsyth theater and of
fice building la being pushed rapidly
forward, nnd the recent good weather
has meant much to the contractors en
gaged In all parts of the city. The
third floor of the new theater Is now-
being poured, and It Is already posilble
to secure a fine Idea of the beauty and
modern appointments of this new At
lanta playhouse.
With the root being added to the new
*1,500,000 postofflee on North Forsyth-
st., work on the handsome Interior of
this building will soon be well under
way. It Is stated that thla work has
proceeded far beyond the time limit* of
the contracts, and that If the good for
tune continues ths building will be
completed many months before the time
specified In the agreement with the
government. The carving of the frieze
in front dally attracts a large crowd of
Interested spectators.
Of the *125,000 worth of realty sold
by Forrest ft George Adair m auction
one day this week the Items, In addition
to *74.847 for the old Star theater. In
