Gun Was Accidentally Dis
charged by

Greensboro, Ga„ Sept. 3.—Chdrlte

road in 1451b district and pointed a re
peating Winchester shotgun at him.
Floyd made some remark about the
Setter. The gun was discharged and
Moyd fell mortally wounded, shot In
the breast. He lived about one-half
hour and exonerated Smith from anv
intention of harming him.
Smith says lie did not know the gun
was loaded.

sational features of the Atlanta horse

Georgia Hussars, which Is Troop A of
Squadron A of the cavalry arm of the
National Guard of Georgia, is one of
the most famous bodies of horsemen of

all the other troops of the state to
send teams.

prices eated off 4 to 5 points from the high

Liverpool, which was due to come 2 to, 3
{ mints lower, opened 1 % higher, but later
ost all of this advance and closed barely
steady and unchanged to % decline. Spot
cotton was in better demand there with total
sales of 12,000 bales. The Manchester mar
ket report** yarns firmer with a fair business
doing in cloths.
Now that the crop reports are away, and
as all of them predict practically a crop fail
ure. we look for prices to gradually work
higher.
ATLANTA MARKETS.
In Atlanta. It will consist of a
contest between five-men teams. Each
troop will send Its best riders and
mounts and the spectators at the horse
show will be given an excellent oppor
tunity to judge of the efficiency of the*,
cavalry department of the Georgia
troops.

Citizens to Aid in Building
Line Into Perry.
Perry, Gs„ Sept. 3.—Citlxens of Perry
securing the subscription of 320.000
asked by the Abbeville and Northwest
ern railroad to build tlje road Into Ab
beville. have succeeded In raising more
than one-half of the amount.
J. L. Blackston, president of the
company, states that the road will be
built Into Perry if this subscription I*
raised. He stated at a public meeting
held In Perry that work on the road
would be commenced very soon and
would begin at Abbeville.
The company has executed a-mort
gage to the Knickerbocker Trust (Com
pany, of New York&for bonds aggre
gating 380,000. Mr. Bankston stated the
road would be built ns fast as practi
cable. #

Customs Rscslpts Fall Off.
Washington, Sept. 3.—There was a
pronounced falling off in customs re
ceipts yesterday, the total for the day
being 3044.050 as compared with $1,*

Liverpool was 3% lower on near and 3 to 4
lower on late months. Opened steady 2
points higher on near and unchanged on late
months. At 12:15 p. m. market was quiet,
but steady; September and September-October
1% net liifher, others % lower to 1 higher.
