o In your enterprising paper to nay u word of ap-
Mplrlt you manifested in the progress of the Houth
y exhibition In your beautiful and classic city? 1
sincere thanks t»> you, your staff and the people of
courtesy und kindness extended me during the pleos-
ice made hallowed by the graves of such men as
Grmly. Gordon and Joel Chandler Harris.
No commercial rivalry was evident In any public Industry, a* iff* 8o
often the case in municipal, Htate and national assemblies, to fleece the rich
and debar the poor. The hotels w ere reasonable In rates and magnanimous
in service. The business houses. Instead of putting on a “high tariff
move for customers, displayed their rare goods with patience and sold
them at equitable prices. No undue variation either of material commod
ities. Of industrial exploits or Intellectual greatness was heralded by the
people thru the press or by voice. The city stood on Us own merit, letting
the judgment of Its visitors pass sentence on Its worth In the world of busi
ness, In Its push of achievement and in its tributes to the heroes of chiv
alry and the literary geniuses who have sprung from its soil and are now
sleeping beneath Its quiet stars. They also left the exhibitors of birds to
stand upon their own merit and achievement. Incorruptible honesty and
scientific knowledge was the slogan of the people for the Judges of the
show, and finding these requirements, nil ended in peace ut Atlanta and
good will toward the South. MRS. S. <\ BRIDGEWATER.
