Tallahessse, Fla,, Feb. 22.—J. O.
V rig lit, the new supervising drainage
engineer for the trustees of the In
terna^ Improvement fund of the state
of Florida, who has been In the city
receiving instructions from the trus
tees as lo his duties, Is now In south
ern Florida. ,
Three years ago Mr. t\ right wan
sent out by the United States govern
ment to.make a general survey of the
everglade region, and It was largely
upon his favorable report of conditions
that public confidence In the success of
the undertaking since entered Into so
largely by the state has been aroused.
Sunday morning Mr. Wright and I..
C. Lunlng, secretary to the trustees, left
for the everglades to make an Inspec
tion of the work being done, and the
general conditions of drainage affairs
at Miami, Fort Lauderdale and on the
Caloosnhatchee river.
After a thorough Investigation, they
will return to Tallahassee, where Mr.
Wright will begin at once to collect
his data, make necessary profiles and
prepare plans and specifications for the
Inspection of bidders upon tho 160 to
200 miles of. canals, the digging of
which the trustees have decided to let
out by contract.
A satisfactory settlement has been
arranged with the trustees of the land
companies owning large bodies oflahd
in the everglades districts, whereby
these companies agree to withdraw
their suits against the trustees protest
ing against payment of tho drainage
tax.' The moneys obtained In the way
of taxes from these companies and oth
er land owners In the dralnage district,
together with other uvallable resources
which the trustees have nt their dis
posal, will, It Is claimed, provide sulfi-
ch'nt funds for the draining by contract
of 200 miles of canals.
It Is claimed by the trustees and otb-
srs who have given thought to the
subject that the cutting of the 200 miles
of esnais referred to will accomplish
the main object In draining tho ever
glades—that Is to say. It will effectually
lower the waters of l.ako Okeechebee
to such an extent that, with lateral
canals flowing Into the main canals,
which It has always been contemplated
would he necessary nnd which will he
done by Individual land owners, this
vast territory will become as a "wa

pleasant to take—children like it.
It will usually conquer a deep-seated

overcome an ordinary rough. It Is also
'splendid for colds, hronehitls, incipient lung

A LITTLE RED SPOT
Novel Experiment by Which It May Be
Made to Disappear.
A peculiar feature about poelam, the
new skin discovery. Is that no one Is
asked to buy It without first sending to
the Kmergency Laboratories. No. 32
'Vest Twenty-fifth street, New York
City, for an experimental sample and
applying same to an affected part of
the skin, about the size of a sliver dol
lar. It will clear the spot so treated
In twenty-four hours—a remarkable
visual demonstration of Its powers.
While poslam has been mentioned
principally In connection with the cure
of eczema, the most stubborn of skin
diseases, It must J>o remembered that
when used for Itch, hives, plinpleS,
blotches, acne, Itching feet, scaly Bcalp.
chafing of Infants and similar miner
skin troubles. Its action Is all the more
pronounced, results being seen after
an overnight application. As only a
small quantity of poslam Is necessary
to cure such cases, a special flfty-cent
package, usually sufficient, has been
placed on sale at all drug stores In
Atlanta and throughout the state of
Georgia.

LIST OF CONTESTANTS
IN THE GEORGIAN’S $30,000 VOTING CONTEST
N
0 MORE lists of contestants will appear until the winners are announced
after the close of the contest. It may be possible*for us to make this an
nouncement next Monday, tho we do not promise to do so. At any rate, the
most important thing to be remembered is that the contest will close at U
o’clock next Saturday night, so if you have any votes or subscriptions to send
in, don’t fail to get them to the Contest Department before that hour, otherwise
they will do you no good. After today we shall send no more votes or credit
slips to contestants, for fear that they will not be returned in time to be counted.
Of course, we shall send them to you if you insist upon it, but it is at your own
risk. Don’t think, for an instant, that you will be losing votes by not having
them returned to you. The Contest Manager will hold them for you, and they
will be just as safe as if you had them in your own possession—safer, in fact, as
there will be no danger of their not being returned in time to be counted by
the judges on the night of closing.
