ORAIN NOTES’
Chicago, May 2).—Bartlett, Patten & Co.:
Light ahowera In northwest. Good ratna
needed. Onr reports from Nebraska, Mia-
aourl and Illlnol* arc that plowing nn of
wheat goes merrily on and that the lies-
alnn fly la still busy. We see no reason to
change our position. Relieve In a very
short crop of winter wheat and higher
pricer.
In eplte of the sharp decline In corn,
prices having been reduced to the farmers
from 3 to 4c n bushel, sales of corn yet.
trrdny In Illinois were very liberal. Thu
weather ia very favorable. If theaa condi
tion h continue, eorn will sell lowfr.
Oats follow corn. *
The Chicago Inter-Ocean: It was raid
by wheat traders last night that the market
has been oversold, and all of the local long*. |
other than big holders, had been forced out
on the break: that the market showed n
fold-out condition nt the bottom, ns It took
very little buying to make nn advance of
Imlla were very certain of that fact. „
point made by the bulla last night waa that
practically nil the wheat sold wa* short

tures ia not always safe. Heart Mid. boo
maintained.
There were more report* of Increased of
ferings of corn by the country, altko they
were spotted. They have been so light of
late that the Increase It not perceptible.
It takes bnt little selling all over the corn
belt to make a liberal aggregate, and traders
attld that any material Increase !n cash of
ferings without nu enlargement in the de
mand la expected to make lower prices.
