THE ATLANTA GEORGIAN AND* NEWS: SATURDAY, JUNE 25, 1910.
First Offering of Lots at COREY
If you have followed the an
nouncement*? of the Core}' Land
Company, you are familiar with the
gigantic work of development of the
United States Steel Corporation,
upon which is based the building of
this ideal industrial city.
On such tremendous scale are
the operations of the United States Steel Corporation that at any location which
it selects for its largo plants, important cities are promptly built as an actual ne
cessity for the accommodation of the vast army of employees and high-priced
skilled workmen required to man the great steel mills and other large plants con
nected with this gigantic industry.
TUESDAY, JUNE 28th
The iron and steel industry,
carried to its wonderful develop
ment by the great captains of in
dustry, has made Pittsburg a thriv
ing city of half a million population.
The same great force established
large and important branches at
Gary, Indiana, making that a city
of 30,000 population within four
years’ time, where real estate values
have increased from 100 to 1,000
per cent.
COREY to Be the Third
Greatest Steel Center
of the United States
Just as Pittsburg and Gary
have been made the iron and steel
centers of the East and West,
COREY will be made the great
Southern headquarters, from which
point about one-third of the entire
output of the United States can be
supplied, and practically the entire export trade that passes through the Panama
canal can go from this point.
Corey was selected for this purpose by the United States Steel Corporation
because of its proximity to unlimited deposits of coal, ore and limestone, the three
requisites of iron, which can be assembled at this point cheaper than at any other
place in the world. This advantage in location has caused COREY to bo selected
as one of the three great hubs of the iron and steel industry. Fed by the largest
payrolls ever known to the South, the immediate commercial success of COREY
is assured.
An Immediate Population
of 8,000
Between 2,500 and 3,000 men
will be engaged this year in the'eon-
struetion of the large plants at
COREY. These skilled wage earn-,
ers with their families will give the city an immediate population of about 8,000.
These people must have homes at once, and for this purpose a.limited number of
lots will be offered. The prices will be made exceptionally reasonable as an encour
agement to p urchasers to build hodses, for which there is an immediate demand
Just as soon as a sufficient number
of lots has been sold, the property
will be withdrawn and not a single
lot can be obtained from the com-
C until all improvements have
completed. The prices then
will be greatly advanced, and lots
purchased now will get the benefit
of that enhancement.
Buy Early
The advantage of an early pur
chase, therefore, is obvious. Every
building constructed will tend to ad
vance values, and the $70,000 worth
of building ,which this company has
just contracted for is a nucleus for
this advance in prices.

000, which iR being spent in carrying
out the initial plans of the Steel Cor
poration, is hacked by an outlay of
more than $1,500,000, which is going

palities.
Preliminary Offering of
Lots at COREY
This preliminary offering of
COREY lots, which will begin Tues
day, June 28 (several months heforo
it was originally intended to place
the property on the market), has
been made necessary by the imme
diate demand for homes for the large
number of employees who are en
gaged in the work of constructing
the grent plants of the Steel Corpo
ration. While a large amount of
street work has been done, such as
cement sidewalks, curb and gutters,
street paving, ’storm and sanitary
sewers, etc., this work is on such a
large scale that the general sale of
property will not take place until it
i$ completed. Every lot sold, how
ever, will include all improvements.
