To All Crank*:
Undo Dudley will be glad to
rive all Georgian reader* the
benefit of hi* experience in
poultry raising. Inquiries
gladly answered. In writing
for information be brief, to
the point, and don't write on
both eide* of your paper.
,* Dear Uncle Dud
ley: I read your
.column with a
deal of pleasure,
and have rend It
rather closely 1 : but
do not remember
having *ecn any
thing relating to
the roosting place
for ilticks. I have
a small bunch of
Indian Runner*.
They are beau
ties. nnd should
begin laying till*
•month.
Is It necessary
that they should rooat under shelter?
1 have only had them about threo
x\e**ks and have been driving them un
der shelter every night, and. In order
to keep them there, had to fasten them
up. My lot Is well shaded with grape
fruit trees, and they seem- to prefer
roosting under the.trees. The lot ta
closed In ao nothing can disturb them.
Will Appreciate an answer thru your
column. Yours very truly.
C. M. BRITTAIN.
'Lakeland, Fla.. Nov. 7.
ANSWER.
Ye*, air; they should be under a shel
ter. They lay at night, and are easily
frightened, particularly at night. Now.
when you have them confined at night
you can get the eggs without much
trouble In the n\orning, and will not
have to hunt all over the yard for them.
Get them into <ne habit bf roosting
tinder the shelter. They can be easily
trained to do this, and you will find
that you will have less trouble with
them. YOUR UNCLE DUDLEY.
Uni r Uncle Dudley—I now have a
very nice pen of Rhode Island Reds .it
my home slid I am taking a great deal
ni Interest In them, t have been raw
ing them for only this season, there
fore I am not very much up In “chirk-
en gab." and I write you to aak If you
would be kind enough to give me a lit
tle Information that I need.
What 1 want le title: Pleoie give me
a good description of the thoroughbred
Red. shape, color, etc.
Aseurlng you of my appreciation of
any Informatlnirymi may give me and
wishing you future success, I am.

AI-HWER.
it would be oftnaat *n Impossibility
for me to describe a Rhode Island Red
or any other fancy chicken on paper
so that you would get a correct Idea of
the bird. You oay that you are not
on to "chicken gab.” Well. In the
description on paper of a Rhode Island
Red. I would have to use so many
"chicken gab" terms that It would be
like Greek to a boy In the A. B, C
class. Visit the yard of some one who
breeds Rhode bland Reds and get him
to go Over the points for you with n
Rhode Island Red bird In hit hand.
You would learn more In this way In
fifteen minute* than yon -could by
reading n description of them In a
month. You are using a great chicken
and when you are fully up on their
characteristics you will like them bet
ter than you do now.
